June/Summer Newsletter 2014

Dear Parents,

Summer’s here! Another year of school is at an end. We’ve learned a lot and grown a lot and made a lot of friends. We’ll say goodbye, now summer’s here, it’s time for us to part. But we’ll remember all our friends and keep them in our hearts.

We are moving to an emotional and fun month with the older children. Our Nursery children will be in their first recital performance, being joined by Preschool and Kindergarten. Our graduating Kindergarteners, Class of 2014, will be having their graduation ceremony immediately following. We wish them well as they head off into 1st grade along with a few of our Preschoolers who are heading to public Kindergarten after the summer. This is always an emotional time. Many of the Kindergarten class have been here since they were babies or toddlers and we have seen them grow and develop throughout the years.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RECITAL CHILDREN/PARENTS:

The children of Nursery, Preschool and Kindergarten who are participating in the Recital must be at The Jewish Federation School, (698 Beech Street, Manchester) no later than 5.45pm – Thursday June 19th. The children need to wear shorts or pants and sneakers. Please no sandals, skirts or dresses. Check with your child’s teacher to see what they would like your child to wear.

Summer is just around the corner! We just got a taste of the warm weather ahead and the sunny weather certainly puts a spring in the children’s step! During the summer months we ask that you bring in a few additional things for your child. Here is a reminder list and please be sure all of their items have their name on them. Also, just a reminder that we do not allow flip flops.

  • bathing/swim suit
  • towel
  • water shoes (optional)
  • sunscreen
  • bug spray

June 20th kicks off the Summer Curriculum.  It is more fun-packed than ever this year with additional activities sponsored by the PTAB with money raised from the Walkathon. The summer curriculum will soon be posted in the classroom, on our noticeboard, on our online calendar and there will be a PDF copy on our website for you to download for your own convenience once we have everything finalized. You will find it under ‘blogroll’. Take a minute to read through and mark your calendar with important information (what you may need to bring, what the children need to wear etc.) We are excited to have PTAB sponsored events again such as the ‘Bubble Party’, ‘Puppet Pals’ and ‘Storyteller’.

We would like to introduce our two new members of staff to you; Miss Anne (Preschool Child Care Assistant) and Ms. Sabrina (Tadpoles One Lead Teacher). Ms. Sabrina is taking over from Elaine as she is taking the summer off. You will also see a couple more new faces around LFP for the summer. Having new staff means you may be asked for proof of ID at pick up, so have your picture ID handy!

We have many renovations happening around the place. You may have noticed the new siding and fences and Geri is hoping to get the driveway done soon too. Please excuse our appearance as we make updates around the place!

Many parents have been asking for Little Frogs Tees recently. Mid-June onward we will have Blue, Purple & Lime Green LF&P tees available for purchase – $10 each in sizes 2T thru youth 6-8. If you would like to reserve one please see the office.

Throughout the month of August the children will be making visits to the classrooms that they are scheduled to enter in September. This helps the children become more accustomed to the new environment and aids in their transition from one room to another.

The next Parent Teacher Advisory Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, Aug 6th at 5.35pm. We would love to welcome some new members. Please feel free to come along and join us if you are interested.

Look for the next newsletter in September. If you would like to receive future newsletters visit www.littlefrogsandpolliwogs.com and click on subscribe.
