Newsletter – January 2011

Happy New Year to you all! We hope you all had a fun holiday celebration and quality time with your families. Through our “Circle of Giving’ we were able to make six homeless or needy families more comfortable this holiday season and we would like to thank you all again for your generosity. These families are truly thankful.

Another personal thanks goes out to Joanna Poirier (Brooke’s Mom), who gave up her time to share a Christmas family tradition with Nursery. The children had a lot of fun and the parents of the Nursery children got to see what they made together as their Holiday gift.

At the end of December we heard that we made $121.04 from our Pizza Hut fundraiser. We have a couple more restaurant fundraisers being organized for later on this year: one at McDonalds and a breakfast at Applebee’s in the spring.

As we start to talk about spring we are starting to plan for our annual walkathon event. We have it tentatively scheduled for the end of April. This will be our 3rd annual event. The children and their families get to socialize with each other in a casual environment while helping their classrooms raise money. Watch out for more details in future newsletters.

On Wednesday, January 5th Mark Standan from Manchester School of Karate came to visit the children of Kindergarten. The children got to experience an interactive karate program that emphasized respect and co-operation. Each child was able to perform simple karate moves, such as defensive postures and breaking a board.  All of the kindergarteners had a lot of fun.

On Monday, January 31st Cameals (Little Frogs lunch provider) is offering a FREE lunch to all of our children (including those who usually bring a packed lunch) and their families if they would like to join them. Sign up for this on your child’s classroom door. The meal will be mac’n cheese, bread & butter, cucumbers and apple sauce.

Museum week  – This month’s museum week theme is ‘Prehistoric Age’. The children’s artwork will be on display January 25th thru 29th. Please stop by and take a look.

Small Smiles will also be here Friday, February 18th educating the children about dental hygiene. This will not disrupt the movement and music activity with Tumbleweeds that day.
