January 2016 – Newsletter

Happy New Year to you all! Also much appreciation and thanks goes out to all the families who purchased gifts for our ‘adoptive’ homeless families and families in transition. We received a thank you note from DCYF, which is on the noticeboard if you would like to stop by and take a look.

Post holidays is always tough for the children, but keeping a routine is one of the best ways to help them (and you!) cope. The children have now completed the first week of curriculum and are in full swing in the back-to-school routine. As a reminder; we attempt to go outside every day; please be sure that your child has snow pants, boots, warm jackets, hat and mittens each day!

Post holidays always starts the beginning of tax preparation. All those who requested electronic statement should have received them already. I know many of you have already picked up your statements, but don’t forget for to stop by the office and pick yours up if you haven’t already.

Kindergarten and Preschool are going on field trips to the SEE Science Center to enjoy the Dinosaur exhibit. This is a great fun family thing to do on a weekend with the children and is now open thru January 31st. DINOSAURS features 6 species of dinosaurs, 2 Cretaceous sea creatures and a pterosaur.  Visitors are inspired by a total of 14 robots, including a 22 foot long Tyrannosaurus Rex, controlled by modern robotic technology.  The exhibit includes many hands-on experiences and learning activities.

We hope you all made it in to see the December Museum Week which included a large array of multi-cultural holiday-themed works of art. This month the children’s artwork will represent their own interpretation of ‘Winter’. The display will be up January 25th thru 29th . Watch for notification to see if your child will be a featured artist this month.
